Cost and Aid
At Mizzou, we provide our students the support they need to thrive — starting with making education affordable.

Funding Your Future
Your education is an investment. And for many, it’s one of the biggest investments they’ll make. We understand that for many students and their families, college costs can seem like an insurmountable challenge.
However, we believe in the transformative power educational access has on our communities and world at large, and we are proud to offer individualized solutions. In addition to grants and scholarships, we provide financial literacy support, which includes breaking down financial aid sources to identify the best options and working through how to qualify for them. You’re worth the investment. We’ll help you navigate making it happen.
Affordability for Undergraduates
At Mizzou, we don’t want finances to stand in the way of your degree, so that’s why 80% of enrolled undergraduates receive grants or scholarships. Among first-year students, the average need-based scholarship or grant package totals $12,559, and the average merit-based scholarship or grant offering is $8,123. During the 2023-24 academic year, we spent more than $207 million on scholarships and financial awards, and 53% of our students graduated with no student loan debt. We’re proud to have been ranked the No. 4 Best Value among all flagship universities in the nation based on U.S. News & World Report data.

Affordability for Graduate Students
Investing in graduate education is a major financial decision. Many students must look beyond their own resources for assistance. The primary funding sources for doctoral students, as well as some qualified master’s and specialist students, are assistantships and fellowships. Mizzou offers some single and multi-year competitive fellowships, and there are numerous competitive fellowships externally. Other funding sources can include scholarships, grants and federal financial aid.
Mizzou helped me establish Missouri residency, which helped my family save thousands with in-state tuition. That, plus other great scholarship opportunities, really made everything possible for me.”
